2009 Season - Week 19

And then there were four

While 3 of the favourites made it through easily once again the Chargers came cruising into the playoffs on an 11 game winning streak only to go crashing out infront of their home crowd. The New York Jets outplayed San Diego through the second half and held on to win 17-14. No such problems for the number 1 seeds as Indianapolis beat Baltimore 20-3 and New Orleans crushed Arizona 45-14 while NFC second seed Minnesota embarrassed Dallas 34-3. So that leaves the championship games as 5 seed NY Jets @ top seed Indianapolis in the AFC and in the NFC it’s gone to form as #2 Minnesota travels to #1 New Orleans. And then there were four Johnnie won BowdenBowl III 23-18 and now leads the series over Mark. It also keeps alive the chance of a treble as he’s already won the Papas Fritas Trophy and entry into the Owners Hall of Fame this year. Johnnie will now play Wayne after the number 11 seed defeated Chief 24-21. This will be the first time Johnnie and Wayne have met in the post-season. After enjoying his first ever play-off victory last week Ron’s season came to a screeching halt as he managed just 3 points and 4 seed Cheryl moved on. In the second upset of the weekend fifth seed Marcus lost to ninth seed AP when Andy’s QB Philip Rivers scored with just 2 minutes left in the weekend! Cheryl and AP have met once before back in 2000 when Cheryl won 39-0. First come first served etc. etc. Teams to me by 10am Sunday please. The best team of the weekend would’ve scored 64 points and cost $5m. QB Brett Favre (12pts), K Ryan Longwell (10pts), WR Sidney Rice (18pts), RB Reggie Bush (12pts) & RB Tim Hightower & TE Visanthe Shiancoe who scored a TD a piece. The most popular players in the Divisional Round were Ravens rusher Ray Rice (5 teams) and as per last week Jets RB Thomas Jones (5 teams) and Dallas WR Miles Austin chosen by 4 owners. All-BUMS Voting Time to vote for your favourite players of 2009. Attached are the top scoring players at each position.
